Viorel Etko

In winning bronze at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Viorel joined Alex Gladkov in ending a 20 year wait for a Scottish medal in Wrestling. Prior to his medal triumph, he took 5th place at Delhi 2010. Gold Coast 2018 was Viorel's third appearance at a Commonwealth Games, where he finished 12th. Prior to Gold Coast 2018 Viorel won gold at the 2018 English Open Championships, retaining his title from 2017, and took top spot at the 2017 British Closed Championships. On the international scene he took the silver medal at the 2017 World Veteran Championships and 7th place at the Commonwealth Championships the same year.

His wife Laura represented Scotland at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Malaysia, competing in Artistic Gymnastics.
