Chris returns to Team Scotland for a second Commonwealth Games having won gold in the 100kg+ event at Glasgow 2014. The road to Birmingham has not been a smooth one for the Royal Marine Corporal, having had to fight back from having torn the anterior cruciate ligaments in both his knees. Part of Team GB at London 2012, he missed out on a chance to compete at the delayed Tokyo Olympics last year and faced a race against time to be fit enough for Birmingham.

If he were to successfully defend his title in Birmingham, he would become the first judoka ever to win two Commonwealth Games gold medals.
