Darren won Triples gold at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games alongside Ronnie Duncan and Derek Oliver. Defending champion in the Men's Singles from Glasgow 2014, he narrowly lost out in the bronze medal match in Gold Coast, finishing 4th.
He is a multi-medallist at World level including gold in the Triples at the 2012 outdoor championships and double gold at the 2016 World Indoor Championships in the Men's and Mixed Pairs. Darren was introduced to bowls via his family, his late father Willie representing Scotland.
He competed at his sixth Commonwealth Games at Birmingham 2022 and announced his retirement from international competition in June 2023.
