Christchurch 1974 marked the introduction of colour television to New Zealand. However, due to the NZBC’s limited facilities, only Athletics, Swimming, and Boxing could be broadcast in colour.
With bronze in the 50m Rifle Prone event, shooter Alister Allan won the first of his 10 Commonwealth Games medals in Christchurch. His final tally makes him Scotland’s most decorated athlete in Games history.
