An exceptional second day of Track Cycling saw Team Scotland win two gold and a silver in a day of racing that had spectators on the edge of their seats.
Calum Moir was guaranteed a medal, having qualified for the gold medal race in the Individual Pursuit and he rode brilliantly, coming from behind to close in and go ahead in the finals laps to win Team Scotland’s first cycling gold of the Games. Elliot Rowe finished fourth, the bronze medal going to Noah Blannin of Australia.
Millie Thomson, bronze medallist in yesterday’s Points Race, went one better in the Scratch Race, getting between Australian pair Lauren Bates and Keira Will, with Evie White taking 6th place.
Sarah Johnson was in action in the Sprint, the semi-final against Liliya Tatarinoff of Australia going to a deciding ride after the Aussie took the first race and Sarah the second. Going early, Sarah powered across the line in the lead and into the gold medal race.
The final, against Malaysian opposition, saw her win comfortably 2-0 to take the top step of the podium and take Team Scotland’s medal tally for the session to three.
All five track cyclists are back in action tomorrow with Sarah first up at 11am (4pm UK time) in the Keirin.
